I’ve been wanting to try this for a while, it’s a variation on felted rocks. What I did was find two rocks that were proportioned correctly for a matryoshka doll, and wrapped them up in wool and felted them. And then I wrapped some more wool around them and felted them, and then some more wool and felted them. Because I kept trying to make the doll rounder, but I’d started with pretty flat rocks. So I ended up with a pretty flat doll.
Then I cut a hole in the felt through to the top rock for a face. And then I felted it some more, trying to felt the edges of the cut, but that didn’t really work very well. So I decided to whip stitch around the edge, which I really liked. And then to finish it off I used the tail of the embroidery floss to sew on a little accent bead.
Do you like it? I think it is a fun project, and the doll has a nice weight.

Hmmm. About 6 inches I think. Maybe a little smaller. And thanks!
