I am so behind. But I’m not apologizing! Very important. I do have so many things to write about, and I just haven’t been finding the time. But now we are in Maine, and then Vermont, (getting here was a long long day). I have less time and more time… Vacations are funny like that when you’re a mom.
The paint isn’t shiny, although I think it was supposed to come out glossier than it did… but we’ve been using ‘real’ tempera paints instead of the washable ones, things have been working a little differently. (They have so much more pigment!!!) But. Tinfoil around cardboard, and tempera paint cut 50/50 with white glue. We had a good time.

Foil is fun! I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard that if you add corn syrup to your tempera paint it makes the paint very glossy when it is dried.
Yes, I think I have heard of using corn syrup too. You can also use glue+liquid watercolors to make shiny paint, and I think it might dry better? I would be worried about using corn syrup because I think the ants would want it and it might not ever completely dry? I haven’t tried it though.
I am a preschool art teacher. Yes, you will get wonderful results with the corn syrup and the kids love to lick their fingers, I used food coloring to tint the syrup. No ants and I have 204 students! Love the foil idea.
Good to know, thanks!
