Mushroom Barrette Giveaway

I’ve been sewing a lot of barrettes recently. I think I should always have some felt cut out to take with me and sew, like a knitting project. I manage that at the playground sometimes, but mostly when I find myself sitting somewhere I am sadly empty handed. Boo! I have been doing a bit better recently with these barrettes, because, I don’t know!

I think these mushrooms are cute though. Which do you like the best? The first is made with a running stitch, the second with a blanket stitch, and the last I made tonight with an alternating length whip stitch.

Here are the backs, so you can see how not perfect I am! The first two are backed in red felt, and the last in white. Not paying attention!

I will give one of these away. Just comment with which one you like the best, and if you win, you will get that one! You get an extra entry for blogging about my giveaway. (I’m going to have to start blogging about other people’s giveaways…) Giveaway closes on the 30th. Feel free to tell me that if my whip stitching were neater, you might pick that one, but given the particular instantiation of hole size and cap shape you like the running stitch, or whichever. I’d love to hear your opinion!

[ And while I usually reply to all comments, I don’t generally reply to all giveaway comments. 🙂 ]

I like all of them – if I had to choose I would pick the one with the “running stitch” on the base and bottom. (first is line!) My daughter would love to wear on of these! Thanks!

I like the blanket stitch the best, however I am bias, as almost everything i sew i use a blanket stitch, it just give such nice clean edges. I’m working on some butterfly barrettes right now, playing with stiches and felt color combinations…. i love this technique for covering them… so clever!

I like best the blanket stitch around the stem and cap, the running stitch around the holes, the stem shape on the whip-stitch one, the cap shape on the blanket-stitch one, and the red backing. Too much detail? 🙂

But given my distance and the fact that my daughter is bound to lose any nice barrettes, if I win the giveaway please pass to the next winner.

That’s funny, because I think I like the running stitch around the edge and the blanket stitch around the holes!  (No one reads comments right, so I’m not somehow biasing the results now?  Shoot!  Your answer will not affect whether or not you win!!!  Random!)  Of course not too much detail.

I’m happy to ship internationally, but I’m sure Sara *would* loose it.  Not that I would mind.  I’m not giving these to Penelope either though!

I like the middle one best, I think because I have a thing for the blanket stitches. =)

And how funny that you are writing about sewing felt at playgrounds, etc, because I’m packing for a trip and planning to add in some bits of felt and patterns to throw together while we’re there.

I have yet to attempt a barrette; Emma’s BFF is dressing up as a candy corn witch for Halloween, so I really SHOULD attempt your candy corn tutorial!

I always try to pack stuff to craft with on my trips.  It seems to work about half the time!  Too bad we can’t bring everything!  And of course, everyone should make one of my barrettes.  Or a barrette.  I’m sure Emma would love something, and you can cover a barrette with any shape!  I’m temporarily addicted to barrette covering now!

k, so I know I won the last one, but it was such a HIT with my 2 year old that I am being greedy and hoping to win again!
I love all three, and will willingly take ANYTHING you make that you decide to give away….
I think if I were making them myself, I would do a running stitch to outline the mushroom cap, blanket stitches around the holes, and a whip stitch on the base… at least, I’d try that… maybe it would be too busy?

I dunno, I’d probably stick with one stitch around the outline, unless you were trying for grass at the bottom…  But make one yourself and see what you think!  🙂

Those are so so so adorable! I would love to win any of them, but I like the middle one the best!!
Thanks for the great giveaway! foxsquirrelrabbit at gmail dot com

I like the alternating stitch the best, I think because the stitching is a bit irregular, and I just love the look of “handmade” anything. I once had a ceramic teacher in jr. high who said the pieces that look handmade or odd are better than pieces that look perfect…I’ve carried that with me all my life!

I was going for irregular, but I really think that one came out a little *too* irregular.  But I liked the spots…

And it will be yours, as soon as you send me your address!  🙂  Please format it the way you would write it, I always get nervous about getting international addresses wrong.
